Team Ibesikpo Asutan Shines at Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival 2026

Team Ibesikpo Asutan marched out in full colours at the opening ceremony of the Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival 2026, held at the Township Stadium, Uyo. The contingent — made up of athletes, coaches, and youth delegates from across the LGA's ten wards — joined teams from every local government area in the state for the festival's traditional procession.

Led by the executive council's sports desk, the Ibesikpo Asutan delegation competed across multiple disciplines over the course of the festival, with the Ibesikpo Asutan Stadium itself serving as a training and staging ground for several events in the lead-up to the opening.

Officials of the local government commended the athletes for their discipline and representation, noting that the festival is as much an opportunity to discover and nurture young sporting talent from within the LGA as it is a competition. Several of the delegation's youngest members were taking part in a state-level sporting event for the first time.

The executive council has reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment in grassroots sports development, including the ongoing upgrade of local sporting facilities across the wards.
